An illegal immigrant from Mexico has been arrested in Georgia after allegedly breaking into a family’s home and sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl at knifepoint while forcing her 10-year-old sister to witness the horrific attack, raising urgent questions about border security failures that continue to endanger American children.

Violent Home Invasion Targets Vulnerable Children

Kenneth Moreno Guzman allegedly forced his way through the back door of a mobile home at Eagle Creek Mobile Home Park off U.S. Highway 301 in the early morning hours of January 12, 2026. Armed with a knife, the 26-year-old suspect sexually assaulted an 11-year-old girl while her 10-year-old sister remained in the room, threatened and forced to watch the attack. The parents contacted the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office shortly after midnight when their daughters reported the assault. Deputies arrested Guzman three days later during a traffic stop after monitoring his vehicle movements near Interstate 16.

Illegal Immigration Status and Criminal History

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement determined that Guzman entered the United States illegally from Mexico approximately five years ago, around 2021. The family told investigators they did not know Guzman personally, having only seen him in the area where he lived in close proximity to their home. According to Captain Todd Hutchens of the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, no previous sexual assault allegations against Guzman were found during the investigation, though authorities continued examining his background. After his arrest, Investigator Kodi Wallis interviewed Guzman with assistance from a Spanish-speaking deputy, during which the suspect provided information consistent with the charges filed against him.

Extensive Felony Charges Filed

The Sheriff’s Office announced 10 distinct felony charges totaling 20 counts against Guzman during a January 17, 2026 press conference. The charges include rape, statutory rape, aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy, cruelty to children in the first degree, first-degree home invasion, false imprisonment, burglary, two counts of aggravated assault with a knife, and 10 felony counts of possession of a knife during commission of a crime. Under Georgia law, Guzman faces potential sentences ranging from 25 years to life on several charges, with aggravated child molestation potentially carrying a life sentence. Captain Hutchens emphasized that Guzman remains in Bulloch County custody and will not be released under any circumstances until the case concludes in court.

Border Security Failures Enable Predatory Crimes

This case represents yet another devastating example of how failed border policies under the previous administration allowed dangerous criminals to enter and remain in the United States for years. Guzman allegedly told investigators he broke into the home specifically because he had seen the 11-year-old victim in the area and was attracted to her, revealing premeditated intent to harm a child. ICE has issued a detainer requiring notification before any potential release, and upon conviction and completion of any prison sentence, Guzman will be taken into ICE custody for deportation proceedings. The assault occurred in the victim’s own home, violating the most fundamental expectation of safety that American families deserve. This horrific crime underscores the urgent need for strict immigration enforcement and secure borders to protect vulnerable children from predators who exploit lax policies to victimize innocent Americans.
