(UnitedHeadlines.com) – Presidential campaign adviser Dick Morris said former President Donald Trump is eroding President Joe Biden’s voter base during an interview with Newsmax’s “Saturday Report” host Rita Cosby.
Morris’ comments came as he discussed Biden’s March 7 State of the Union address, which he called “a terrible speech.” He said it was divisive and had an awful tone. Morris said Biden’s attacks on Trump during the State of the Union address made it more of a campaign speech that “smacked of some desperation.”
Morris noted that according to the data, Trump is not just gaining the undecided voters but is “taking huge bites” out of Biden’s base. Morris said data shows Trump is gaining one-third of the black vote, gaining with Hispanics aged 48-41, and gaining with Gen Z voters, all of which is destroying the Democratic Party’s base.
Morris added that the speech targeted Biden’s hard-core voters, but missed the voters Biden is losing to Trump, adding that is where he feels Trump will make “huge gains.”
Polls continue to show that Trump’s base is changing. Polling after the early voting states of South Carolina, Iowa, and New Hampshire shows him making gains in voters over the age of 65 and gaining the support of more women voters.
After Super Tuesday, March 5, polls showed Trump up nationally over Biden among registered voters by between two and five percent. Many of those surveyed, from all races, ages, and genders, said Trump’s policies when he was in office helped them more than Biden’s policies have them. Many also continue to be concerned about Biden’s age. At 81, he is the oldest sitting president in the history of the United States, and, if elected to a second term, would be 86 when the term ends. His cognitive ability has been questioned throughout his term, but especially since the release of a report by special counsel Robert Hur that said Biden is a “well-meaning elderly man with a poor memory.”
