Trump Mentions 2 Potential Vice President Candidates

(UnitedHeadlines.com) – Though he stated he would not yet announce his vice presidential pick, former President Donald Trump revealed the criteria for his pick during a Feb. 4 interview with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo on “Sunday Morning Futures.”

Trump stated the biggest factor in choosing a running mate is ensuring his vice presidential pick would be able to handle the presidency in the event of an emergency.

Bartiromo then asked Trump, “Who is your running mate?”

Trump responded that he has “a lot of good ideas,” adding that he “talks to everybody.” He then mentioned South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, saying he called him and said Scott was “a much better candidate for me than you are for yourself.” Trump then referred to Scott “sticking up for me and fighting for me” at events during the past week.

During the interview, Trump also mentioned South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, stating that she has been “incredible” in fighting for him. He talked about how Noem said that because she could never beat Trump, she had stated she would not run against him.

Both names Trump mentioned during the interview have been speculated by many to be on a short list of candidates for Trump’s vice presidential pick. Scott has not ruled out the possibility of running as Trump’s vice presidential pick. Noem has stated that while she talks with Trump frequently, they have never discussed her being his running mate.

During the interview, Trump also addressed rumors that he had spoken with independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. about teaming up on a potential ticket, stating the interaction “never happened.”

This is the second time Trump has referred to Scott as a potential vice presidential pick. During a previous interview on Fox News, Trump mentioned Scott, and South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham and former South Carolina Gov. McMaster and also offered praise for New York Rep. Elise Stefanik during dinner at Mar-A-Lago.
