Ted Cruz’s Support for Donald Trump Raises Questions

(UnitedHeadlines.com) – Texas Sen. Ted Cruz’s support of former President Donald Trump after Stormy Daniels’ detailed May 8 testimony has many social media users criticizing the senator.

During an interview on “Hannity,” Cruz called Daniels’ testimony “salacious,” adding that nobody “on planet Earth” thinks “Trump has been celibate all his life.” Cruz stated that “this is not news” but shows the trial is a “political smear job.” Cruz noted that not “one Democrat nationally” was willing to speak out against what is happening.

Cruz’s comments come after Daniels testified on May 7, providing graphic details about the alleged encounter she had with Trump in 2006, an encounter that Trump denies happened. Trump’s attorney, Todd Blanche, filed a motion for mistrial after Daniels’ “unduly prejudicial” testimony, with Judge Juan Merchan denying the motion for a mistrial.

On social media, users criticized Cruz’s comments, claiming that Trump is charged with allegedly falsifying business records related to hush money payment made to Daniels, not over the alleged encounter.

On Twitter, former editor at the Chicago Tribune, Mark Jacob, wrote that Cruz’s comments make it appear as though Trump’s “only two choices” in life were being “celibate” or “cheating on his wife.”

The editor-in-chief of MeidasTouch, Ron Filipkowski, stated Cruz’s statement left him confused because Trump was married to Melania at the time of the alleged encounter, noting that Melania had just given birth to Barron Trump.

Lawyer Bradley P. Moss said Cruz’s statement makes it seem as though Cruz does not believe Trump’s denial about the alleged encounter with “Daniels while he was married to Melania.”

The Twitter account @CryptidPolitics, called Cruz’s comments “Interesting,” noting that it appears Cruz “does not dispute” Daniels’ story, calling Cruz’s defense of Trump “Pretty sad.”

Writer Janice Hough noted that Trump is charged with “adultery” but for interfering with the 2016 election by “trying to buy and bury stories about his adultery.”

Trump has pleaded not guilty to 34 counts of allegedly falsifying business records related to a $130,000 hush money payment made to Daniels before the 2016 election to keep her from sharing her story of the alleged encounter.
