Republican Mocks Donald Trump By Saying He’s ‘Surrounded by Losers’

(UnitedHeadlines.com) – Republican New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu mocked former President Donald Trump during an interview, saying he is “surrounded by losers.”

Sununu made the comments to Fox News host Harris Faulkner while discussing the 2024 Republican presidential candidates who dropped out of the race and then attended Trump’s New Hampshire rally during an interview for “The Faulkner Focus.”

Sununu referred to them as “losers,” who are now surrounding Trump. Former candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, who suspended his campaign after a fourth-place finish in Iowa, and former candidate and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, both attended Trump’s rally. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who suspended his campaign Jan. 21 following his second-place finish in Iowa, has given an endorsement to Trump.

Sununu supported former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, Trump’s only remaining competition in the Republican primary, and had predicted she would win in a “landslide.”

Instead, Trump has won Iowa and the first-in-nation primary in New Hampshire. Trump won a record-breaking victory in Iowa, receiving 51 percent of the votes. DeSantis finished second, receiving 21 percent of the vote, while Haley finished third, receiving 19 percent. Trump also won the Jan. 23 New Hampshire primary by an 11-point margin, receiving 54 percent of the vote over Haley, who received 43 percent.

Sununu continued defending Haley after the loss, posting on Twitter that New Hampshire voters “put wind in [Haley’s] sails” as she heads into the South Carolina primary.

During a Jan. 24 interview on Fox, he also told Republican National Committee chair Ronna McDaniel that the race for the Republican presidential nomination should not be decided after only two states. He called the idea Republicans needed to unite around Trump as the nominee now “nonsense.” After Trump’s win in New Hampshire, McDaniel stated that she did not see a “path going forward” for Haley.

Despite his support for Haley, Sununu has previously stated he would “support the Republican nominee, absolutely,” even if that is Trump.
