Reality Star Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell Passes Away from Cancer

(UnitedHeadlines.com) – The oldest daughter of reality TV star Mama June Shannon, Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell, 29, died from Stage 4 adrenal carcinoma Dec. 9.

Cardwell died at Shannon’s home in Milledgeville, Georgia, with her family at her side, according to a statement from the family’s manager and friend, Gina Rodriguez. The statement added that Cardwell died on her “youngest daughter, Kylee’s birthday.” In January, doctors discovered cancer in Cardwell’s kidney, lung and liver. While she never formally announced her cancer diagnosis, she posted about her battle on Instagram and TikTok. In May, she posted an update on Instagram after she began her third round of chemotherapy. The update featured a selfie with her husband, Eldridge Toney. In a November post on TikTok, Cardwell told her followers she was doing “pretty good.” She stated that she had gone through autoimmune therapy and radiation treatment.

From 2012-2014, she was a co-star on the TLC show “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo,” a reality show about the family life of her sister, Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, a child beauty pageant contestant. From 2012-2013, she also appeared on “Toddlers & Tiara,” a reality TV show which featured Thompson.

On Instagram, Shannon, 44, shared the news of her daughter’s death. She said that her daughter fought the disease for 10 months. She asked for fans to keep the family in their thoughts and prayers.

Thompson also shared the news of her sister’s death on Instagram Dec. 10. Thompson wrote, “The sky looks a little bit different today” and “My heart is completely broken.” She added, “Anna was a fighter (and) still is.”

In February, Shannon married her boyfriend Justin Stroud in an oceanside ceremony in Panama City, Florida. Thompson, Cardwell, and her siblings, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird and Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon, also attended the wedding. The wedding was attended by Shannon’s grandchildren, Stella, Sylus and Bentley Efird. The wedding was the “first time the family had all been together since 2014,” according to Mama June.

Cardwell is survived by her husband and her two daughters, Kaitlyn Elizabeth and Kylee Madison.
