Melania Trump Announces Her Mother’s Passing

(UnitedHeadlines.com) – On Jan. 9, former First Lady Melania Trump announced that her mother, Amalija Knavs, 78, had died. A cause of death was not released.

In a post on Twitter, the wife of former President Donald Trump wrote that “with deep sadness,” she was announcing her “beloved mother” had died. She called her mother “a strong woman” who was devoted to her family. She added that she would be missed “beyond measure.”

On Truth Social, the former president said it was “a very sad night” for the Trump family. He called her “an incredible woman,” adding that she would “be missed far beyond words.” In a second post, he shared a photo of him and Melania’s parents.

Melania’s mother was born in Judendorf-Strassengel, Austria, on July 9, 1945. From 1964 to 1997, she worked at a clothing factory, Jutranjka, in Slovenia, where her responsibilities included “creating patterns for mass production.” However, her mother also made clothes for her two daughters, Melania and Ines. In the 1970s, her mother introduced Melania to the fashion business as a child model for the company. Viktor Knavs, 79, Melania’s father, worked as a car dealer.

In 2018, Melania’s mother and father became citizens of the United States, living at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, for the last few years.

According to Melania’s former senior aide, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, Melania was “incredibly close” to her mother and said Melania always took care of her mother and father.

The former president revealed during New Year’s Eve celebrations held at Mar-a-Lago that his mother-in-law was hospitalized at a Miami hospital. Following a phone call with Melania, who was with her mother that night, he stated he wished his mother-in-law to get “better as quickly as possible.” He added, “It’s a tough one, a very tough one.”

Melania was also absent from the family’s Christmas celebrations, including the family’s annual Christmas photo, to be with her mother.
