Medical Examination Determines Actor Billy Miller’s Death

( – The cause of death for actor Billy Miller, 43, has been revealed.

The “General Hospital” star’s autopsy report showed that he died Sept. 15 of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Miller was found in his bathtub at his home in Austin, Texas, “with an apparent gunshot wound to the head,” according to the Travis County Medical Examiner’s report. “A revolver chambered for .410 shotgun shells” was found in his right hand.

The report states that he had alcohol in his system, with a blood alcohol level of 0.08. He also had drugs, including cocaine, in his system when he died.

Multiple letters that indicated Miller’s intent to commit suicide were found by first responders. Letters with instructions for others were also discovered at the scene.

Miller died just days before his 44th birthday.

For years, Miller had battled manic depression (also called bipolar disorder), according to his mother, Patricia Miller. She said her son “fought a long, hard, valiant battle” with the disease. She said, “he did everything he could to control” it. She added, “in the end, the disease won the fight.”

Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Miller’s career began when he signed with Wilhelmina as a model. In 2007, he landed his first major role on “All My Children,” playing Richie Novak. From 2008 to 2014, he played Billy Abbott on the long-running soap opera “The Young and the Restless.” The role earned him two Daytime Emmy Awards for Best Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series and one Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. He starred in “General Hospital” as Drew Cain and Jason Morgan. He was a regular on “General Hospital” until 2019.

He also starred in five episodes of “Suits” as Marcus, the brother of Harvey Spector. He starred in 10 episodes of “Truth Be Told.” Miller also had roles in “American Sniper” and “Ray Donovan.” His final credit was his 2022 role on “NCIS.”
