(UnitedHeadlines.com) – If former President Donald Trump wins the election in November, New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is afraid he will throw her in jail.
On Kara Swisher’s podcast, “On with Kara Swisher,” Ocasio-Cortez said if Trump is re-elected she fears he will “round up people” and throw her in jail, noting his first campaign’s motto was “lock her up” about then-presidential candidate Hilary Clinton. She added that she takes Trump “at his word” when he states he would “round up people.” She claimed Trump is “out of his mind” and that a second term for Trump would be more radical than his first term, noting he had “learned from his mistakes.”
Ocasio-Cortez stated she believes Trump “absolutely” has a chance at winning over President Joe Biden in November, which is why she has put her “support behind Biden early.” She claimed that if Trump wins, the United States is “looking at the potential dissolution of democracy.” She added that she understands why people hesitate to support Biden, noting that Democrats are also having a hard time gaining the support of younger voters due to the lack of a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas. However, she noted that “demoralization” associated with Biden leads to less support for down-ballot candidates, so she called on people to “get into the game, not to get out of it.”
While Trump stated that if he wins reelection he would be his supporters’ “retribution,” he added that the divide in the country needs to be fixed. He noted it would be “easy” to go after the Democrats “based on what they’ve done.” However, he stated those who think he would seek retribution are “wrong,” adding that “it has to stop.”
Ocasio-Cortez is not the only one to fear Trump would put Democrats in jail. Actor Robert De Niro has stated that he believes that if Trump wins in November, he will actually “come looking for” him.
