(UnitedHeadlines.com) – While former President Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, won the April 23 Pennsylvania primary, former candidate and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley still received a number of votes in the Republican primary.
In the key battleground state, Trump won the Republican primary, receiving 786,000 votes, or 83.5 percent of the vote. However, Haley, who ended her campaign in March after Super Tuesday, received over 155,000 votes, or 16.5 percent of the vote. Haley did not endorse Trump when she suspended her campaign.
Pennsylvania is not the only swing state where Haley has received a portion of the votes. Despite no longer being a candidate, Haley received 26 percent of the vote in the swing state of Michigan and 18 percent in the swing state of Arizona.
In the 2020 election, Trump lost the battleground state of Pennsylvania by 80,555 votes, or about one percent, to President Joe Biden. In 2016, Trump won the state by less than 45,000 votes.
Despite his victories, there have been signs that voters in swing states, such as Pennsylvania, that Haley voters will not vote for Trump in the November 2024 general election. Haley voters are said to be “Never Trump” voters, and it appears Trump is still not yet getting their vote, even with Haley out of the race.
Trump’s former White House communications director, Anthony Scaramucci, noted that Haley was still “polling nicely in PA” despite not being in the race. He added that “Trump has no shot to win the presidency.”
Haley did not campaign in the state, yet she received almost 150,000 votes, noted J.J. Abbott, who worked in the office of former Democratic Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf.
In March, after victories in Washington state, Mississippi, and Georgia, Trump secured enough delegates to win the Republican presidential nomination. However, he will not be confirmed as the 2024 nominee until July at the Republican National Convention, which will be held in Milwaukee.
