(UnitedHeadlines.com) – Former First Lady Melania Trump was ridiculed by some on social media after appearing with her husband, former President Donald Trump, at an April 6 fundraiser at billionaire investor John Paulson’s Palm Beach, Florida, home.
The fundraiser, which raised $50.5 million according to Trump’s campaign, is one of the first times the former first lady has been seen publicly with Trump as he runs for re-election. As he arrived at the event with Melania, Trump called the fundraiser an “incredible evening before it even starts.”
However, some social media users noted that, based on photos and videos taken of Melania Trump from outside the fundraiser, it appeared Melania was not happy to be at the event.
On Twitter, journalist Victoria Brownworth said that Melania did not seem to be “very happy for someone who is gearing up to be First Lady again.”
Ron Filipkowski wrote that Melania “looks like she’s in a hostage video tonight.”
It looked like Melania dreads “every minute spent with Donald Trump,” according to a post on the @TeaPainUSA account.
While some social media users criticized Melania, others saw her appearance at the fundraiser as an indication she would play a greater role in her husband’s campaign. One user noted that for everyone asking where Melania has been, her appearance shows she is on the campaign trail with her husband, “the next President of the United States.”
Though she has attended some campaign events at Mar-a-Lago, Melania has not been seen much on the 2024 campaign trail. At the end of 2023, Melania was spending time with her mother, Amalija Knavs, who was sick and died in January. During Trump’s 2020 campaign, she also kept a low profile after playing an active role in his 2016 campaign.
On April 20, she will hold her first major political event of the year, a fundraiser for the Log Cabin Republicans that will be held at Mar-a-Lago.
