
(UnitedHeadlines.com) – President Joe Biden and the first lady Dr. Jill Biden hosted the “Ted Lasso” cast March 20 to discuss mental health.
Jason Sudeikis as well as other members of the cast including James Lance, Hannah Waddingham, Brendan Hunt, Billy Harris, Toheeb Jimoh, Jeremy Swift, Kola Bokinni, Brett Goldstein, Phil Dunster and Cristo Fernandez visited the White House.
Before the cast met with Biden, they went to the press briefing given by the White House. During the briefing, Sudeikis took a question from Lance, who plays a reporter on the show. Lance asked how Sudeikis feels about the potential for Kansas City to host the World Cup in 2026. Other cast members were also spotted in the press room. On an episode of Saturday Night Live Sudeikis played Biden, and he was asked to do that while in the press briefing.
According to Karine Jean-Pierre, the White House press secretary, said part of Biden’s agenda is to make sure Americans know how to get help with their mental health. The administration is focused on making mental health care affordable and accessible to Americans, as well as training providers in mental health care. It is also seeking to get more funds for the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
The meeting between the cast and Biden focused on addressing mental health and how to promote overall well being.
Produced by Warner Bros. Discovery, “Ted Lasso” is an Emmy Award-winning show that is streamed on AppleTV+. It is in its third season. In the storyline, the show highlights mental health in its main character who faces panic attacks and seeks therapy to help with panic attacks. Sudeikis, who plays the main character on the show, said Americans should not be afraid to seek help related to their mental health.
The White House’s social media channels will be showing content from the meeting between the cast and Biden.
